What is mioty®?

The term mioty® is derived from “My Internet of Things”. It is a low-power wide area network (LPWAN) technology developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS). mioty® uses telegram splitting to achieve a high resistance to interference from other radio sources.

As an implementation of a standard of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI TS 103 357), mioty® is the first non-proprietary data radio solution for LPWAN in the license-free frequency band. From the user’s point of view this means: a high degree of future security, long-term investment protection and worldwide interoperability. Thanks to the software-based solution, existing sensors, actuators and other devices can be easily retrofitted with mioty® technology.

The Advantages of mioty®

mioty’s® patented telegram splitting technology enables the most robust connectivity solution on the market. Even in areas with many radio signals, very good interference suppression and lowest packet error rates are achieved. The same applies for situations in a crowded spectrum.

mioty® covers a large area with a few powerful base stations: You can rely on coverage of 5 km in urban areas and up to 15 km in rural areas.

The protocol used by Swissphone has minimal power consumption and allows the use of very compact batteries with a life span of more than twenty years.

Thanks to unsurpassed accuracy and reliability, mioty nodes and base stations operate at full power at speeds of up to 120 km/h.

Unlike other (proprietary) solutions, mioty® is compliant with the new ETSI standard and compatible with most hardware variants. This ensures that your network investments can be scaled and adapted to changing requirements.

Silent Alarm with mioty® Technology

In the event of a threat, employees can discreetly trigger a silent alarm using the SOS button at their workplace. The threat alarm is wirelessly transmitted via mioty® to the alert platform, where it is escalated to the appropriate first responders.

Depending on the application and your specific requirements, you can choose between two platforms: SOS-Portal (emergency call system for lone workers) and s.GUARD (critical incident management platform). To implement the threat alert system, you will need the SOS-Button mioty® and the mioty® m.BASE base station:

SOS-Button mioty®: Discreetly alert in case of a threat

With the handy and wireless SOS-Button mioty®, employees can discreetly send an emergency call and quickly request help in case of a threat. The SOS-Button wirelessly transmits the threat alert via mioty® to the associated base station, which then sends it to the alert platform. Thanks to the personalized information, the correct action is immediately and automatically initiated, such as alerting third parties or dispatching security or ambulance services.

mioty® m.BASE: Powerful and compact for mission-critical IoT applications

The mioty® base station from Swissphone is designed for mission-critical IoT applications that require optimal bidirectional communication with endpoints and sensors. Its compact form factor and powerful radio frontend contribute to its versatility; its redundant power supply architecture with Power over Ethernet (PoE) and dual DC inputs sets it apart. The base station offers various hardware options to meet your requirements.
